Overview:

Merchant Focus stepped into business in 2004  and it is based out of Dublin, Ohio. They hold a fine reputation and surprisingly I found no negative reviews about them but yes I did found BBB complaints but just a few.  So far I have read only one negative response, which was from one of their testimonials that is no longer listed on their site. It seems that they wanted their testimonial removed due to some differences.

Coming to testimonials, their testimonial section is really good providing both merchants name and business name. So you can simply approach any of those merchants via email to check if they are still dealing with Merchant Focus.

They not only have an active Facebook page and Twitter account but also a blog (www.onlinepaymentpro.com) where you can surely find quite helpful information. So I suggest you to check that.

Merchant Focus is one of the ISO/MSPS that enlighten the benefits of interchange-plus pricing. So they do offer interchange-plus pricing and also seasonal downtime.

According to my recourses they don’t charge early termination (cancellation) fee. Good news though, but be sure to read all terms and conditions before signing the contract.

I rate Merchant Focus 4.5 out of 5 considering their zero cancellation fees and such low no. of complaints.

The Merchant Focus BBB profile has a “B+” rating as of this review, with about 6 complaints in the last 36 months.

Negative Reviews:
Besides those 6 BBB complaints, I wasn’t able to find anything else on these guys. Good stuff!

Common Complaints:
None.

Verifiable Testimonials/References:
Their site has a very long list of verifiable testimonials. I contacted nearly all of them but until now only one has responded very positively while one hasn’t given much positive response. Actually, that former customer is not satisfied with Merchant Focus’ service.

Security/Privacy:
Third-Party SSL certificate provided by Thawte.

Customer Service:
I don’t have much experience with customer service of PowerPay other than a short conversation with their sales agent. So in this case, your reviews can be very useful.

Contract Duration:
With them you have to sign a 3-year working contract, that each year renews your service automatically. However, you can terminate any time providing a written notice.

Cancellation Fee:

According to my information they don’t charge for an early termination but just a written notification is required. Still make sure you read all the fine print carefully before signing the contract.

Interchange-Plus Pricing:
Merchant Focus does offer interchange-pass-through/ interchange-plus pricing. Great to know.

Seasonal Downtime:
They do offer seasonal downtime, but their policy varies from merchant to merchant. If you have a seasonal company, see what you can negotiate with them.

Product/Service Offering:
Retail (Credit/Debit), Internet/Online (e-Commerce), iPhone, Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO).

  1. Stay away from Merchant Focus. Its a Scam operation run by complete idiots who only want to take advantage of small businesses. I was with Merchant focus for about 3 months and I have all regrets from first to last day. I’m an idiot for staying this long but am glad I can cut my losses. The chargeback dept is so atrocious and incompetent. They will run your company to the ground. Beware!!
