National Processing Company Review

National Processing Company Review

Overview:

National Processing Company (NPC) is based out of Louisville, Kentucky.  They are a merchant account provider and in accordance with the profile on their site, number of their merchant client under their wings is around 240,000. Lately they were accessed by Fifth Third Processing Solutions, also known by the name of Vantiv.  They have claimed to specialize in dealings with small and medium businesses (SMB’s). No doubt, they are one of the largest processors.

Let’s move to some worth mentioning facts about NPC that you should be aware of before signing up with them.

  • They always charge their clients with $250 as fees for an early termination. And that is not good but there is chance that they may drop the charge if you ask and if they do so don’t forget to get that in writing.
  • They seem to like pushing terminal leases  which is of course a big money maker for the company but quite unfair with the merchants. Especially if you are running a small business and need only few terminals so ask them to just let you buy the terminal without getting into the lease thing but if they don’t then you can turn to other providers out there.

Like many other big companies they also have long list of complaints filed on BBB.

You can possibly negotiate a fair deal with them and depending on the rates you get your opinion about them may vary. So, if you are looking forward to get an account through NPC then don’t hesitate to ask for my help because I can really help you in getting through the procedure at fair terms.

In my opinion National Processing Company is an average merchant account provider and I have scored them 3.5 out of 5.

Negative Reviews/Complaints:
Although they have a large number of complaints with the BBB, they surprisingly have only a small number of negative reviews across the rest of the web.

Common Complaints:
Here I am talking outlining some of the similarities that I found among complaints filed against them.

  • Expensive terminal lease contracts through Lease Finance Group (LFG) and Lease Capital Group (LCG): One of the things that I found common among most of the complaints is the terminal lease issue.  Many of the merchants are complaining that they were not informed about 4-year contract of terminal lease. Here we cannot put the blame on the processors because it’s usually the fault of merchants who lack understanding of the leasing process. Leases are only appropriate for large organizations that have a requirement of lots of terminals but don’t have the upfront finances to make the purchase. Leases can definitely be a big money maker for processors who push them and National Processing Company appears to be one of such processors. Fortunately, nowadays most of the processors have abandoned them since leases are quite unfair on the part of the merchant. Especially for small merchants who usually require only few terminals, it’s quite unreasonable to get stuck into the lease thing, when you can purchase them at much lower cost. Nowadays there are many providers in this industry who don’t involve you in any such contract. So you can surely consider such other merchant account providers in this case.
  • Cancellation Fee:  NPC’s contract holds for 3 years but if you go for an early termination, in that case you will have to pay them a cancellation fees of $250 which is comparatively lower than many other companies out there. But of course if you still have an issue about it, then you can certainly work with other companies in the same businesses that don’t charge you with any cancellation fee. Cancellation fee always adds to the downside.
  • PCI compliance fee: Another complaint that has been filed most often against NPC is PCI compliance fee. Merchants who intend to accept credit cards for business purpose are undoubtedly required to have PCI compliance but this does not mean that they should be charged with any kind of fees to have such compliance. Unfortunately many of the processors are charging a high amount on annual basis for providing PCI compliance to the merchants which is very unreasonable and sadly, National Processing Company is one of such providers. For more information on PCI compliance fees you can certainly check into the PCI compliance fee subsection.

  1. I am submitting a complaint to the Ga. Secretary of State in order to get an opinion on NPC’s lease. I stopped taking credit cards because it was expensive and my business really did not rely on them but NPC wants to collect $80 a month for 30 more months on a piece of equipment that cost $50 to make. I got out of the processing ok but the useless equiptment they still want the money.

  2. I have a autorepair shop that I talk to a salesman to set me up with a company , he showed me the application and I would not sign it in till I read all the fine print, so he said he had to turn it in that night or he could not keep the rates so I decline , he left with out me giving him only my drivers license to prove its me, I checked my credit score and saw that someone did a hard inquiry on my credit report, I never heard of NPC so I checked into it, then the hit my bank account for close to 400.00 dollars I have tried to resolved this several times on hold and being transfer to different departments and ending up they hang up on me! I have never sign anything with them and all they do is give me a run around! I see they have many complaints of this same practice, If you ask them if they have a legal department some will tell you they don’t even I have talk to them, and some will tell you they don’t take calls from customers!!! They blame it on the sales man but the application that was filled out was from a young lady, because I have his writing and clearly does not match. Like I said they had no right to forge my application and if they did not with the police report they required, they still won’t return my calls and send me from one department to another one and finally just hang up after you spent hours on the phone!!! They have giving me no options but to take legal action!

  3. This company refused to update its security last October they stopped my service 414 to 21 days they told me to call here and call there headquarters can help maybe maybe Jimmy can help I don’t know nobody would talk to me so I called The Man Who Sold me the product he told me that company was crap sorry I work for him he sent another man over who sold me a new machine from another company cardconnect I found out that NPC leasing is being sued all over the internet for all kinds of stupid crap I couldn’t get them to resolve the problem or update my equipment like they were supposed to so it took me three and a half for months to open a new checking account pay all my vendors with a new routing number when I stop payment and close my account down the harassing started it’s been going on for months the other day I finally got a call from the lawyer who’s going to going to going to report me now I have no intentions of ever paying the $375 but they say I owe them nor are they willing to pay me the money they stole from me which is just about the same I understand there’s a poor couple who paid their bill suggested by their lawyer paying with a check I understand NPC decided to take the routing number and started tapping their acccount and started happening all over again and no way shape or form will I ever use this company would recommend this company and or will ever pay my bill at this company my credit score is over 800 I really don’t care anymore anyway just so the rest of you know stay away from him don’t say anything to them don’t send them any checks and just stay the hell away from themwaiting to hear back from the lawyer and now we’re going to start with my Detroit lawyer lots of fun anyway this company has no right to be doing what they’re doing I’d like to threaten them and be lots of fun that’s how I feel everyday when your phone rings who knows who it’s going to be this week somebody from from New York somebody from Colorado somebody from Texas all I know is that this company is a poor company and Jay Cohn is at the top. If you want these people to go away cancel your checking account and open a new one don’t ever answer your phone again only reason I’m doing this is for the rest of you but you know what’s really funny you’re not in control of your money and the bank that you bank with is not in control of your money when you have an automatic Clearing House payment the people in control of your money to people who are taking the payment the only equipment you have no right or say anywhere just remember that because you don’t have any rights as an American citizen you can’t control your own money and the only way to make it go away is to stop the checking account and cancel the account cancel the account cancel the account cancel the account cancel the account and then middle finger up and don’t answer the phone best advice I can give to you as a friend thank you and have a nice day

  4. I made the mistake of believing the salesman as to if my business had to close they would just cancel my account. I returned my card machine and cancelled within two weeks but I can’t get out. They charge $88 a month and I have nothing. can’t get out of the lease. My little business is about to go under.

  5. The salesman Shawn Benson lied to me and did not fulfill our agreement to provide credit card service for my company but had me sign a lease for equipment for 48 months at 67.18 per month for a total of $2696.40 for a machine you can buy for less than $300.00. His company Retreiver was not helpful at all even though Shawn Benson represents them.
